Students wishing to pursue study at a postgraduate level have many options and opportunities with ICRAR.Launched in 2009, ICRAR is a joint venture between Curtin University and The University of Western Australia with funding from the State Government of Western Australia. Our research focuses on three main areas: radio astronomy, data intensive science, and engineering with many research themes across these areas.

What can you study?
PhD Research
ICRAR is looking for talented, hard working and motivated students to work on postgraduate research projects.
Opportunities are available for study at both of ICRAR’s joint venture partners, Curtin University and The University of Western Australia. Specific research projects are available across many areas of astronomy (both theoretical and observational), astronomy engineering and high performance computing.

Studentships
ICRAR has opportunities in our studentships program for students who have almost completed an undergraduate degree and are intending to continue their studies related to astronomy, see our studentships page for more details.
Some PhD applicants may be offered a predoctoral scholarship of a similar length to our undergraduate studentship program but with higher level and more intensive work schedule, this will be discussed with you (if applicable) as part of the application process.
